Measuring Windows, Best Practices

Measuring your windows accurately for replacement will require you to take accurate measurements of the width and height. Generally, it’s not necessary to take measurements of the depth. You will only measure the windows from the inside. No need to struggle climbing over trees and bushes outside. If you are measuring all the windows, start in the room you are in and try to work clockwise around your home, or in some other systematic way to make sure you don’t miss anything. Be sure to write down any measurements you take on a piece of paper so you only have to measure once!

When we measure the width, we go from the inside of the casing to the inside of the casing. When we measure the height, we go from the inside of the top casing to stool of the window. When you measure an opening, measure width first then height in inches.
